The idea is to communicate beyond the word or number with other impulsive sensory cues such as color. In a category like Money & Finance that's driven by color, the concept was a perfect match.
Throughout the day the logo and site background will simply fade to red or green reflecting the current market condition. Rather than searching for the small green or red number you can quickly asses market conditions with a glance. The concept translates well into individual stocks, portfolios, screen savers, mobile apps etc.
